I want you to take a deep breath and think about your life over the last five months. Undoubtedly, you have experienced a number of changes—whether they be powerful internal epiphanies or disruptive external transformations. In the time of a pandemic that has rocked the world and moved the needle on everything from our perceptions of economic stability to technology’s potential to bring us together, can you think of the shifts that COVID-19 has brought to your life? Your work? Your family and community? Your world?
What deeply felt hardship and pain did you experience—for yourself, your family and loved ones, and the collective? What brought you to your knees—either in despair or surrender? What new feelings arose that were previously buried beneath the surface? What did you long for? What quiet whispers of insight did you receive? What new possibilities did you see in the midst of the rubble in which your old life lay? What did your “new normal” reveal to you?
Often, we desperately wait for signs that will give us powerful guidance about the “right” path to take.
Many times, we don’t bank on the fact that the “signs” come in moments of upheaval and disruption. We want the “nudge” to feel undeniably clear—without taking us all the way out of our comfort zone, of course.
Unfortunately, that isn’t how the world works. The signs come rushing in during periods like these, when our old concepts of stability quickly give way to a new and sometimes formidable reality. The change itself is a massive sign.
The chance to level up and step into our purpose often occurs in times of chaos.
The signs come rushing in during periods like these when our old concepts of stability quickly give way to a new and sometimes formidable reality. The change itself is a massive sign.
So, my friend, I want to tell you: If you are waiting for a sign, this is it!
Everything you’ve been seeing, hearing, feeling, and experiencing is offering you an opportunity to hit the reset button.
What does that opportunity look like for you?
I know that personally, one of the first signs I received was physical exhaustion. As if the world events were not enough to slow me down, my body decided to help a little more and began to shut down. It started by feeling tired in the afternoon. I didn’t get the message and kept trying to do the same things I’d always done to keep my energy up. Then, I went from tired, lethargic, and exhausted to being completely unable to move my body. That rapidly culminated in the inability to think. My mind was blank. Soon, I could barely talk. Quite simply, there was nothing to say.
Now, all of this might sound strange, but it is true. I could not move, think, or talk. I was shut down by my body and being.
It was a clear sign.
I finally recognized the sign for what it was, and I stopped.
Stopped doing. Stopped moving. Stopped talking. Stopped thinking.
That’s when I began to listen. Afterward, I took some time to sit quietly and answer the questions that I offered you at the beginning of this blog. I explored what I have learned and the messages I have received thus far from the pandemic. I am so glad I did. I am different today as I walk forward into my “what’s next.”
Overall, my inner guidance system during the pandemic has become strong and clear. My questions and prayers are swiftly answered. I feel myself leading with love as I sense my at-oneness with nature and everything on the planet. Everything—from the trees that stop me in my tracks and draw me in, to the animals that show up and communicate with me through their profound presence—has shown me that the love of the universe is always available to us, and every single one of us can attune to it at any moment.
The love of the universe is always available to us, and every single one of us can attune to it at any moment.
Today, I know that I don’t have to keep “doing” or “achieving.” When I am joyful and when I choose to slow down, rest, rejuvenate, and take time for myself, all my actions come from a place of joy—which generates a whole different type of contribution.
You have an opportunity that has been knocking on everyone’s door. I encourage you to be brave enough to take it. Instead of continuing to spin in what-if scenarios and the chaos of the moment, you can choose to reset yourself and your life in any way you wish.
So pause for a moment, and just breathe. Consider: What have you seen in this time? What has become clear to you? What is different for you in your life now, and going forward?
May your answers help you to seize this day and reset to magnificence!
